Featured Performers "Horns of Plenty/Plenty of Horns!" 7pm Oct 26
We are fortunate to have so much talent within our orchestra. Two of our own players will be performing solos at this concert, celebrating fall and brass.
Jaime McCormack grew up near Priceville Ontario on her family farm and was first introduced to the French horn in public school music.
At 16 she joined the GBS with the guidance of her horn teacher Paul Harvey. She went on to study with Ron George and Derek Conrod completing a Bachelor of Music in Performance French horn at the University of Western Ontario. After moving back and settling in the Grey Bruce area, Jaime found her way back to the GBS and has performed with them ever since.
Jaime is excited to be performing "Under the Apple Boughs", a piece by Meaford born composer Keith Bissell in our Oct 26 concert.
Lucia Barcari is a versatile violinist who enjoys an active career as an orchestral leader, recording artist, chamber and folk musician, throughout Canada and Europe. Committed to educating a new generation of musicians and audiences.
An active orchestral musician for over twenty years, she has served as concertmaster for the Georgian Bay Symphony, Ottawa Valley Music Festival, Peterborough Symphony Orchestra, Broc Light Opera Company and Nuove Musiche in Belgium. Born in Chișinău, Moldova, Ms. Barcari was admitted to the Music School for Talented Children at the age of seven, and later won the Moldavian National Music Competition. She completed a master’s degree in violin performance and pedagogy at the Odessa State Conservatory in Ukraine and has been performing and teaching in Canada since 1996.
Ms. Barcari is excited to perform “Autumn” from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons.
