Youth Award Recipients 2016-17
Congratulations to the recipients of the 2016-17 Georgian Bay Symphony Youth Awards!
The GBS has been fortunate to work with several talented young musicians, who have demonstrated their passion for music throughout the year.
The Burton Morrison Award has been awarded to Radine Kruisselbrink, First Violin. Thank you to the Morrison family for their support of this award.
Radine Kruisselbrink has just completed her seventh season with the Georgian Bay Symphony. She began in 2010 at the age of 11. She has played in both the first and second violin sections, and for the past three years has had the pleasure of filling the position of assistant concert master. She also enjoys playing piano, and completed her ARCT in piano performance with first class honours in 2015. She continues to teach piano as well as accompanying instrumentalists in the community. In September, Radine will begin studies at the University of Guelph in a degree program focusing on Agricultural Business and Economics.
The Hermon Dilmore Award has been awarded to Sean Nicholson, Clarinet and Isaac Zettler, Percussion. Thanks to Long & McQuade Music Store for supporting this award
Sean Nicholson attends St. Mary's High School and is going into grade 11. He started playing with the Georgian Bay Symphony in the spring of 2017. Sean's instrument is clarinet and his teacher is principal clarinet of the GBS, Rob Tite. Sean started playing clarinet about 5 years ago and still loves it as much as he did when he first began his studies.
Isaac Zettler is a percussionist/timpanist. He's been playing percussion for 6 years now including several years with the GBS Youth Orchestra. Isaac is beginning his third year with the orchestra. "The GBS has given me many opportunities to improve my skills with challenging music and professional musicians to work with."
